Off-Season and Winter Weddings

Off-Season and Winter Weddings

Congratulations! You’re engaged!

All of a sudden you have a hundred things on your to-do lists, family to call, friends to ask for their help to be in your wedding party and then there is the matter of your wedding date. Ah, the wedding date. There are certain times a year in your region of the country that are the most popular times to get married and

We love working with couples to create their dream wedding at one of Omaha's premier venues; DC Centre.

more often than not (but winter weddings are so gorgeous!), a couple will go straight for those months because that’s what you know and usually it’s the best temperature outside. Nebraska? June and August last year were our most popular months. Right after that? July and September! The temperatures are nice and you have a decent chance that you know what the weather will bring on your wedding day.

But let’s talk about some other options because you literally have an entire year of dates to choose from!

That “busy” or “peak” season is popular and you will pay for it. There won’t be very many discounts or promotions because businesses don’t need to offer them in order to book those months. But off-season, or winter weddings in Nebraska, wedding dates are where the savings are! We’ve done a few polls from our bridal shows and have seen that almost every bride that comes through has a budget and would like to stick to it for their wedding. That can be really hard to do and get everything that you want. Off-season dates are one of the easiest ways to save money for your wedding and wedding reception.

Winter Wedding Benefits

Let’s use DC Centre for an example, since we can speak to what we do. November, December and January DC Centre's lobby is a great place to take family photos for your wedding ceremony just like this winter wedding did!in the midwest can be cold and unpredictable but that should not be a reason to completely discount a season. Some of the most stunning photos we’ve seen have been in snowy weather (Thank you, Pinterest!). Your reception is most likely going to be inside leaving the weather outside which means for about 6 hours, you just won’t notice it. You could also just really love winter and that’s a bonus for you. So what do you get for having a winter wedding? Well for one, you get married! I kid, but really…you could save hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars just on the venue rental charge. So you get a “cheap wedding venue” but is anything but!

Savings on your wedding venue could just be the beginning of your savings! Businesses are willing to work with you during off-season days to fill their calendar, so be willing to work on your date. You may also have more options of businesses to work with since it is a little slower season for weddings.

Make sure to sound off on our Facebook page post with this article and let us know what you think! Are you choosing or did you choose an off-season wedding day and what did you think? We love seeing those winter wedding photos!

We really wanted to kick off this new year with some great little updates around the building for our clients.

Last week, over 48 hours, we did a mini makeover for our bridal suite!

We hope that we created something that feels a little more classic, elegant and very “bridal” that is in a timeless color scheme.

Take a look! Don’t you want to just lounge on those chairs? The prints from Etsy are just adorable. An entire wall is now wallpaper that has a beautiful metallic gold and silver sheen to it. We even replaced the light switch covers to gold so they matched! The whole space looks just so inviting, we hope you like it!

Why Tech at Weddings Can Be a Great Thing

DC Centre tips and ideas for incorporating tech at weddings.

Usually, there is a time and place for everything and tech use tends to follow this rule. More and more nowadays though, you see the use of tech at weddings in a variety of different ways and we can’t blame you! Why not showcase your digital world IRL? It is such a large part of our lives that completely leaving the modern world at the door to your wedding feels a little weird.

Here are our favorite ways that you can use tech at weddings:

* We are all so used to using our phones for everything we do, including notes, emails and even books. So why not rely on your trusty cell to keep your vows safe? If you don’t want to fumble with paper up at the front of your family and friends, who may here that paper shaking if you’re a little nervous, using your Notes app on your phone could be a really good option for you. We’ve even seen couples set their relationship status on Facebook to married at the end of their ceremony! Just throwing it out there. Really brings the tech at weddings front and center!

* Your BFF or aunt can’t make it to the big day but you really want them there to at least see the ceremony? Skype it! If you have a computer and there’s wifi at your ceremony location, there shouldn’t be any reason you can’t make it happen.

* It’s pretty likely that your friends are going to be taking photos the entire wedding, unless you ask them not to. Why not take advantage and give them a hashtag to use so you can go back and see all of those photos in one convenient grid. It gives you the opportunity to see your wedding from a different view. There are tons of Pinterest ideas an framing Instagram photos or even turning them into magnets. What an awesome little keepsake! Make sure you choose a hashtag that isn’t too long, easy to remember and type but a little clever so you aren’t sharing the hashtag with hundreds of other photos on Instagram. #weloveit #dccentre #techatweddings

* Have an iPad laying around and have a little DIY running through your veins? Try your hand at a DIY iPad Photo Booth!  Seriously, this could be so fun for you and your guests. Really get into it with a creative backdrop and fun props for an unforgettable addition to your night.

With over around 150 weddings every year, we’ve seen a lot. There are so many great ideas we see from our clients, their creativity is pretty amazing. What is your favorite way to see tech at weddings? Let us know on our Facebook page! Any ideas we can share are always welcome.
