This has always been an interesting topic, at least we think so, and we felt the need to talk about it a little more due to the recent closing of some of Omaha’s very popular wedding & event venues: Event/Wedding Insurance.

DC Centre actually can sell wedding and event insurance and we think more clients and people in general should be considering the positives in preparing for something unforeseeable in an uncertain world. You protect your life, your home, your car, why not your special day or event? You take the time to carefully plan and prepare but what if something goes wrong? Are you ready for it? Event insurance can save you a tremendous amount of time, money and a headache when dealing with your vendors.

Traveler’s Insurance is the insurance that we are able to issue so we can talk about what they can do for you. Just to give you an idea, policies for events start for as little as $160. That’s it! To protect yourselves from thousands possibly lost, we’d say that’s a smart move. You are able to read this all on Traveler’s Insurance site here but we’ll go through what it can do for you (information from Wedding Protector Plan from Traveler’s Insurance). Here are the examples of situations that Traveler’s Insurance discusses when talking about coverage for an event:

  • Cancellation or Postponement of your Event – If the venue suddenly goes out of business and is inaccessible or sudden illness prevents the honorees, parents, grandparents or children of honorees from attending, or an honoree is unexpectedly called to duty, this coverage can reimburse you for the deposits lost.
  • Lost Deposits - If your band or your limo provider fails to show up, this coverage can reimburse your lost deposit.
  • Additional Expenses – If a caterer or transportation company suddenly becomes unavailable for your event and you can find a last minute replacement, this coverage can reimburse you for the difference in cost up to 25%of the original contract price.
  • Event Photographs & Video – If your photographer fails to show up, or loses your photos from your wedding, this coverage can reimburse you for the cost of reconvening your wedding party to take new photos or video.
  • Event Gifts – If your gifts are somehow damaged while on display at the event, this coverage can reimburse you for repair or replacement cost.
  • Special Attire – If you’re traveling to your destination event and the airline loses your event attire, this coverage can reimburse you for the replacement attire.
  • Special Jewelry  - Special Jewelry can provide coverage for loss or damage to jewelry purchased or rented specifically for personal decoration of honorees on the event date or within 7 days prior to the event date.

There are of course optional coverage options that are most certainly something to look into such as Liability Insurance and Liquor Insurance.

We are officially half way through the first month of 2012, how exciting! DC Centre would like to give a big congratulations to all of the couples who became engaged over the holidays and for those to come in February, we all know Valentine’s Day is a big one!

Everyone knows that you deserve to enjoy the engagement honeymoon for a few weeks but then it’s back to real life, and planning your wedding! Obviously, that’s where we come in. Our comparison chart is currently being revised but last year’s chart is still posted for you to compare reception venues around the Omaha area. DC Centre has unbeatable pricing, a great staff (meet them at our Staff Page!), fantastic food and what I’d like to consider one of the most important things: we care. We care about your wedding, how you envision one of the most special days of your life and how we can help you make that day come true!

Now, I would hope that you consider DC Centre for your wedding but hopefully even more so when I tell you a little more about the specials that we run year-after-year for our new brides.

This may have been a mild winter, which most of us hope for but brides who book their reception between the months of November 1 to March 31 will receive are Winter Wonderland discount.

Loving the sound of an April wedding? Who wouldn’t! Spring is absolutely gorgeous and you will be too! We have our Easter Special for brides who book over the weekend of Easter. To make this weekend affordable and elegant DC Centre will provide an indoor wedding chapel to marry you and your sweetheart, half off your suite or ballroom rental, half of chair covers and bows, a discounted menu and a champagne toast for the bride and groom. What’s more to love?!

Are you a Husker fan? Or not a Husker fan? This special can go both ways! Our Husker Game Day Special is for those of you that are having your wedding day on a Husker game day. We know it can be difficult but that’s why we make it easy! DC Centre will give you half off of your suite or ballroom rental, complimentary hors d’oeuvres for your guests before dinner, complimentary chair covers for the head table and reserved tables and one $1 for the bows(!) and if the game is televised during your reception on regular channel programming we can even bring in a TV to your room otherwise we can have it on in the lobby. Sounds like a pretty good deal, huh?

Welcome 2012!

Happy New Year to everyone and welcome to our new website!

 

All the content is the same, just in a prettier package and we are glad to give it to you. 2011 has been a year of transformation for DC Centre, in a very positive way. All of the changes and adjustments that we’ve gone through have been to provide you with a better service.

 

You can now see all of DC Centre’s full time staff from our Director of First Impressions Marsha to our Culinary Manager Tim. We want you to know who we are and that we are  all here to make your event or dance lessons a truly wonderful experience.

 

In April, DC Centre’s Outdoor Wedding & Event Garden will officially be open and we couldn’t be more excited! You told us you wanted an outdoor ceremony and we listened. Surrounded by greenery and flowers with a beautiful altar and white wooden chairs on brick flooring, shaped like a heart. Everything about the garden screams romance.

 

We now have separate pages that talk a little about other events that DC Centre holds such as non-profit events, fundraisers, business meetings, birthday parties, bat/bar mitzvahs and anything else you can possibly think of. After your event, we don’t want you to remember that you had to do all those little things like rent tables and chairs, hire a caterer, rent linens, set up your event and clean up. We can do all of that for you.
